Biafra Lives: A Life Mission
by
Chukwukere Uche, LL.B
So far, some Igbo people have not shown and not proved to have interest in the total freedom of Nd'Igbo from the
tyrannical nation called Nigeria.
It is rather very unfortunate. Most of them seen to be more concerned about producing or becoming the next Nigerian
president than about the plight of Nd'Igbo. They go a long way to compromise Igbo interest. They consciously encourage
crude injustice and cause thousands of lives to be lost for example in (ODI massacre 1999, Choba invasion 1999).
And properties worth billions of Naira destroyed, thousands of our people for example (MASSOB members) thrown into
detention for no offence without trial, many went into compulsory exile, great men like Victor Nwankwo, Mr. Barnanas
Igwe, NBA chairman, and his wife, assassinated, killed or maimed even in their living home. Even when Islamic fundamentalists
wantonly commit genocide against their people (Jos 2002) these political self-esteem-seeking Nd'Igbo still have
no reason to complain, rethink, seek or join the moving train of Nd'Igbo and other
minorities of the eastern region to freedom.
If these political self-esteem-seeking Nd'Igbo happen to occupy the office of the president of a huge but tyrannical
nation called Nigeria, there are no doubts that they will deny Nd'Igbo their right to freedom to personal liberty,
thought, and conscience, freedom of association, freedom of assembly and attempt to frustrate our ideology and
goal, the Republic of Biafra because they would represent the Fulani caliphate in office and will automatically
become enslaved to the caliphate. They are so jittery of the Fulani cabal and extremely subservient to the political
dictates of the caliphate. And Nd'Igbo would have nothing to show for it in all human developmental endeavour.
It is for this natural fact that we of MASSOB are opposed to producing the president of Igbo extraction of the
entity called Nigeria. Because producing a president will not solve the problems of Nd'Igbo and other minorities
that make up the Eastern Region . Those "Fighting " against the realization of the Republic Biafra want
no change and development of the Igbo Nations. Neither do they want a Sovereign National Conference of all ethnic
groups in Nigeria.
Nevertheless, as far as we of MASSOB are concerned, the second phase of the civil war between 1967 and 1970, The
Aay 1966 bloody Araba demonstrations, in which acts of genocide were carried out to effect Hausa-Fulani secession
has since resumed. We are lost until we realize our mission, the mission to control our Land, our resources, our
boundaries, our politics, our development, our destiny and our full autonomy.
We of MASSOB shall not retreat, we shall not surrender until we realize this great historic mission of ours. Although
Biafra was defeated militarily, oppression, crude injustice, extermination policy continues to decimate Nd'Igbo
in particular and other Easterner's in general. The Republic of Biafra remains undefeated and in fact indefeatable.
It lives in our minds, it is not dead, it is indestructible, it is eternal.
We of MASSOB have once again put on our Biafran shoes, we will see the Rising Sun once again; we will never accept
oppression, crude injustice, exterminations policy forever, and we will give resistance wherever and whenever there
is any form of such oppressions. We of MASSOB will never surrender our ideology.
The importance of the Republic Biafra is basically the survival of Nd'Igbo, Ijaw, Ibibio, Annang, etc. Socially
the ogre of racial segregation, hatred, envy, maliciousness, apathy, violence against ourselves, suspicion of one
ethnic nationality against the other, and discrimination makes it extremely difficult for Nd'Igbo and other Easterners
to develop their potentials to the fullest. We have education without infrastructure and facilities are obtainable
but limited to the privileged. Public services are lacking in many respects; there are not sufficient water supplies,
surfaced roads are in a total state of disrepair; postal service and communications systems in most communities
are in almost not existing and in fact unavailable. Labour is exploited and victimized galore Economically, our
teenage girls have to prostitute to make ends meet and civil servants are deprived of their arrears, allowances,
and salaries for months. This has forced many to into armed robbery and other social vices that mar the society.
Whether we like it or not, the Republic Biafra is destined to become the Nation of the present century. Some problems
have projected Biafra on the screen of world opinion: the May 29, 1966 acts of genocide and the demand for a Sovereign
State of Biafra.
The economic background of our problems is one of life and death. In spite of our natural wealth we are regarded
as a "backward", "under-developed" and "undeveloped", or "non-self-governing"
area.
Naturally, these economic factors have had an adverse effect on the standard of living of the people, most of whom
may be said to be living below the minimum subsistence level. To the outside observer, it is clear that such a
challenging situation can exist only in a tyrannical country which is in political, economic, sociological, psychological
bondage. That is true.
The future of the Republic of Biafra is intertwined with the future of Africa. I have written this to enable you
to pass a fair judgment on the crusade we of MASSOB have embarked upon for the emancipation of the Republic of
Biafra in the life-time of those crusaders who have made this a life mission. We believe that God of Biafra
has so willed it.
