This is a rejoinder on the numerous comments enunciated by
my worthy brothers and sisters of Biafran descent regarding Ejirika Foundation, Inc.'s opinion of late Anthony Ukpabi Asika's
legacy as a public official. In order to take the global debate
on this issue to an objective and more measurable dimension, I will pose this question to all these critics of
Asika as an effective and the best administrator that East Central State has ever known, I will borrow the words
of one popular president of the United States of America:
ARE IGBOS IN ALL THE STATES THAT MAKE UP THE FORMER EAST CENTRAL STATE OF
NIGERIA (BIAFRA) BETTER OFF TODAY THAN THEY WERE UNDER THE EXECUTIVE WATCH OF DR. ANTHONY UKPABI ASIKA?
In answer to this question, we would prefer an analysis of the misery
index of the area then, as compared to now. In other to continue the tradition of our organization, which is one
of seeing the good qualities of other people, we will submit that Dr. Anthony Ukpabi Asika has played his role
and has gone to meet His maker face to face.
So it is left for us here on earth to channel all these criticism to a positive use. This could be done by developing
a set of objective criteria or standards by which we can measure the performance of any public official in Igbo
land and the Governors in particular. I am yet to hear from many of these critics how the governor of Abia State
is able to buy and own an Airline when the state that he governs is not financially capable to buy the four tires
of a trainer aircraft.
Secondly, we can consult with our individual representatives to introduce bills in Congress that will make it impossible
for public officials from third world countries to bank or purchase property in the United States without a formal
approval from their central legislative bodies and to prescribe strict penalties for persons used as accessories
to undermine such legislation. We of Ejirika Foundation, Inc. a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt organization that operates
a school based health clinic of the non-profit model in Amaoba, Oboro, Umuahia (Government College Umuahia subdivision)
of Abia State will take a proactive stand on this issue and will present it to our congress man.
To that end, we urge all Biafrans to do the same. In the mean time, we will purse to receive word from the Jury
on Dr. Anthony Ukpabi Asika's Legacy conducted in an objective and verifiable manner by my brothers and sisters
of Biafran descent.
