Orji Uzor-Kalu, Governor of Abia State has once again taken the Igbo for granted. Ndi-Igbo have just emerged from
the deliberate political miasma he plunged them into when he called for a BiafraNigeria President of Igbo extraction
in Enugu in 2003 only for him to go underground to work for the oppressors when the elections came. However, he
went too far this time. He apologized to the aggressor whose actions led to the death of millions of our people,
mostly women and children of his age during the Nigeria-Biafra genocidal war. As reported in the media, he not
only apologized, but also stood his grounds when further questioned on the issue, describing his position as "brilliant."
What Uzor-Kalu is saying literally is that the likes of Professor Eni Njoku, Dr. Akanu Ibiam, and Dr. M.I.Okpara,
all of blessed memory, who stoutly supported Biafra's War of Survival and stood by General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu
to the 'end' were stupid. What Kalu has done is tantamount to shedding the blood of our innocent dead people a
million times over. It surpasses in good measure his going to Sokoto in 2000 to apologize after our people were
massacred in waves of Sharia riots in Kaduna and their bodies delivered to Igboland in trailer loads. It definitely
falls in line with what Ojo Maduekwe, Emeka Ofor and now Chris Ubah and Ngige have been doing with the destiny
of about forty million Igbo people in BiafraNigeria and the Diaspora. Factually, it represents the peak of the
destabilizing of Igboland by conspiratorial and decadent forces outside Igboland, using those and other stooges.
This is hardly surprising though knowing full well who Mr. Orji Uzor-Kalu is really. Orji Uzor-Kalu came into national
notoriety (certainly not limelight) many years back. It was at the launch of a fund by the old Borno State. On
that occasion, Mr. Uzor-Kalu was reported to have donated some millions of naira in "cash" delivered
in cartons. When the beneficiaries opened the cartons, they discovered to their chagrin some new naira notes carefully
laid on top of the stack. The rest of the "millions" he donated were papers cut to the size of naira
notes and easily recognized as tools in the hands of fake currency makers and money doubling (local 419) syndicates,
occasionally displayed by the police authorities in BiafraNigeria. It was clearly a case of criminal conduct. Yet,
to the best of my knowledge, Orji Uzor-Kalu was neither arrested nor prosecuted. He went scot-free and the issue
died in the media, like his alleged certificate forgery that came up no sooner than he became the governor of Abia
State in May 1999.
Today, the gist is that he is "working" for a Master's program after bulldozing his way through the statutes
of Abia State University (ABSU) where he is the Visitor. Also, these days he carries about as the roving "ambassador/journalist"
of the newly established newspaper, The Sun, where speculation is rife that he has majority shares. Information
available in public discourse in Abia State allege that the facilities being used for the production of The Sun
were originally meant for Abia Newspapers, Ambassador, that has now been liquidated by his government.
There is nothing wrong in one having aspirations for a high political office, academic achievement and a clean
and prosperous business. But there is everything wrong in going about it the way Uzor-Kalu has been doing, matching
on our innocent dead as a platform.
I would say that it is good that Orji Uzor-Kalu has come out from his closet in a "brilliant way". When
Ndi-Igbo now speaks of a grand conspiracy to hold them down, in every way, unbiased minds in BiafraNigeria and
across the world would understand. The tactics of the aggressor in the Nigeria-Biafra genocidal war has been to
empower a few cheap and callous men like Kalu who use their native intelligence dangerously as agents of destabilizations
in Igboland. It is high time Ndi-Igbo found a practical and effective way of dealing with these deviant few.
In the long run, even if Orji Uzor-Kalu achieves his life ambitions; lives for a century or more before he kicks
the bucket, every true Igbo alive who knows the facts about the Nigeria-Biafra war would regard his death as a
good riddance of bad rubbish. And if he chooses to be interred in Igboland after his determinate flippancies aimed
at promoting his personal interests and conclusively arrayed against his kinsmen, that portion of land due to him
in death would be mystically transformed to evil space. In the authentic Igbo world, he would deserve no less,
for what he has done is a sacrilege. And that is what he would get in death for unwittingly bringing a curse to
himself.
