As a married and straight female corporate elite on a business seminar thousands of miles from my base, I was required to share the same room with another corporate elite, a nasty, freaky lesbian; or pay for my own room. The only man representing a marketing research company on the trip was given a private room.

However, when I mentioned my not feeling comfortable with a lesbian in the same room with me, the organizers of the trip told me it was a nonissue--it's not like that--asking straight men and women to share a room. For you gay and lesbian advocates, my question here is, is it right to require straight and gay men to room together?

I have vowed not to make such trips again unless there's a guarantee I'll be sharing a room with a hardcore, pumped-up real man, not the freaky lesbians one sees in The Ellen Degeneres Show.

Yvette:

I think the answer to your question is Yes it is. Just as it is right to have ballplayers shower together, to arrange things otherwise is to impose a distateful pattern of segregation.
