PNF USA, INC. CONDEMNS 9 ASPIRANTS FOR ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNOR FOR THEIR STATEMENT

Pan Ndi-Igbo Foundation USA, Inc. (PNF USA, INC) has studied the publication of This Day on Thursday, January 2, 2003, which contained the following:

"Nine gubernatorial aspirants in the botched Anambra State primaries have directed their national delegates to vote for President Olusegun Obasanjo in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) convention slated for Abuja from tomorrow to January 5. They also, in a statement, asked their supporters to remain calm, explaining that they moved for the suspension of the gubernatorial primaries when they discovered that the list of delegates being used was for the July instead of December 31, 2002 congress. While suing for peace the aspirants asked the supporters to await further directives on the primaries. "We also ask all supporters who are national delegates to move to Abuja with effect from January 2, 2003 today and ensure the victory of Obasanjo, the popular choice for Nigeria, at the convention. They were asked to return to Anambra State immediately after the convention for the state gubernatorial primaries, the aspirants said. Those who issued the statement are Dr. Raymond Okechukwu Odunze, Mr. Jerry Sonny Ugokwe, Chudi Offodile, Phillip Obiora Agbasi, Ikechukwu Abana, Mr. Chukwuemeka Okeke, Mrs Chika Ibeneme, Dr Christ Ngige and Mr. Benson Nnamdi Nnoruka."

Pan Ndi-Igbo Foundation USA, Inc. (PNF USA, INC.) condemns the statement(s) attributed to Dr. Raymond Okechukwu Odunze, Mr. Jerry Sonny Ugokwe, Chudi Offodile, Phillip Obiora Agbasi, Ikechukwu Abana, Mr. Chukwuemeka Okeke, Mrs. Chika Ibeneme, Dr. Christ Ngige, and Mr. Benson Nnamdi Nnoruka for the following reasons:

PNF USA believes that these individuals are simply not acting in the best interest of their town/ward, local government area, federal constituency, Anambra State, Ndi Igbo, and Nigeria. They have selfish motives. They think that by pledging their support for General Olusegun Obasanjo they will be given the governorship of Anambra State. In their statement they did not tell Ndi Igbo why delegates from Anambra State should not vote for Dr. Alex Ekwueme.

We strongly believe that they are not qualified to lead a political ward not to talk of leading a State because of their lack of performance and selfishness. They have not used their office to uplift their constituency economically, politically, socially, or morally.

We believe that these individuals are not qualified to speak for Anambra State in particular and Ndi Igbo in general. They should not be trusted with power because they have and will continue to abuse it.

We are asking Ndi Igbo to ensure that Dr. Raymond Okechukwu Odunze, Mr. Jerry Sonny Ugokwe, Chudi Offodile, Phillip Obiora Agbasi, Ikechukwu Abana, Mr. Chukwuemeka Okeke, Mrs Chika Ibeneme, Dr. Christ Ngige and Mr. Benson Nnamdi Nnoruka are not placed in any elected office.

National Chairman, PNF USA, Inc.

Mr. Geoffrey Nzeadibe
National Secretary, PNF USA, Inc.
