APGA-USA calls on World Igbo Congress to endorse its mission
NEWARK, NJ: The National Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance Party of Nigeria (APGA), USA Chapter, and immediate past Chairman of World Igbo Congress, Chief Austin Egwuonwu, has called on World Igbo Congress, an apex Igbo organization, to endorse APGA as its party of choice and Ikemba, retired General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, as the consensus presidential candidate in the forthcoming general elections. He was speaking at the end of the USA Executives/Zonal Coordinators meeting held at the Robert Treat Hotel, Newark, New Jersey over the weekend.
Chief Egwuonwu emphasized that APGA is the only party that will salvage Nigeria from her present economic and sociopolitical state. APGA, he told the distinguished forum, should not only be seen as a symbol of unity in Nigeria but also as the party that will bring prosperity and good governance to the people of Nigeria. He charged the US National Executives and Zonal Coordinators to go forth and continue delivering the good messages of APGA in their respective zones and regions and to mobilize their friends and well-wishers wherever they may be to join and support the party�s noble mission.
Chief Egwuonwu further called on all Nigerians abroad to support APGA as the party that will among other things enforce the power limits prescribed by law on the executive and legislative arms of government, promote the fundamental freedoms of all Nigerians, and insist on openness and transparency in all organs of the governments.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the National Officers and the State Coordinators commended the APGA leadership in Nigeria and reaffirmed their support and loyalty to the party and its leadership.
The Party Executives, Zonal Coordinators, and delegates from different parts of the United States attended. The meeting approved the appointments of Mr. Kele Anyanwu of Houston, Texas as APGA Publicity Secretary, Mr. Chike Okoye of Washington DC as National Auditor and Mr. Oliver Iheme of Dallas, Texas as National Financial Secretary. The meeting also established a publicity committee with Attorney Mike Ozulumba of Boston, Massachusetts, Charles O. Adibe of Georgia and Mr.Goodman Okpara of Washington DC as members.
