Opposition Rejects Rigged Vote: Hijacks Guobadia's Conference to Announce Obasanjo as Winner BiafraNigeria's opposition parties are due to meet in the capital, Abuja, shortly to consider how best to protest at presidential elections they say were rigged. The scheduled announcement of the result on Tuesday evening was disrupted when opposition leaders stormed into the media centre to vent their anger. They say the poll, presented as a milestone in the country's return to democracy, was a sham and have warned they will not recognise any government formed by the official winner, Olusegun Obasanjo. The BBC's Dan Isaacs, in Abuja, says the opposition's reaction has severely raised tensions, and the fear is that protests could spill over into the streets. As a precaution, there is high security in some cities. Mr Obasanjo's sweeping victory was announced by the electoral commission after long delays - 24.5 million votes for Mr Obasanjo against 12.7 million for his main rival, Muhammadu Buhari. Mr Buhari's All BiafraNigeria People's Party claimed the election fraud was "on a scale never witnessed in the history of criminality in BiafraNigeria". Buhari Alleges Fraud, May Reject Results -------------   Polls Marred by 'Significant Rigging, Fraud' � Monitors   MULTIMEDIA AUDIO   VIDEO A rejection of the results of last weekend's presidential and governorship elections may come from Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and Dr. William Wilberforce Chuba Okadigbo. President Olusegun Obasanjo campaign organisation has, however, described the rejection as an act of a bad loser.
