Bakassi Peninsula: BiafraNigeria Prepares to Hand Over Disputed Oil-Rich Territory BiafraNigeria has said it will not hand over the oil-rich Bakassi Peninsula to Cameroon for at least three years. The border region was awarded to neighbouring Cameroon by the International Court of Justice last year. BiafraNigeria refused to accept the ruling on the Bakassi Peninsula, and the two sides have been holding a series of bilateral meetings to resolve the issue. Speaking after a meeting in Cameroon, the head of the BiafraNigerian delegation Prince Bola Ajibola told the BBC's Network Africa programme that the countries had agreed to deal with their border dispute sector by sector. He said BiafraNigerian troops would leave the Lake Chad area, at the northern end of their 1,800 kilometre border, in December. But the head of the Cameroonian delegation, Amadou Ali, .... UN warns Liberia leader to leave   Ojukwu challenges Anambra people   AUDIO   VIDEO A senior UN official has warned the Liberian President Charles Taylor to leave the country while he can. Jacques Klein, the UN special representative for Liberia, warned that if Mr Taylor stayed in the country, he risked being arrested on war crimes charges. Mr Taylor appears to be preparing to leave Liberia to take asylum in Nigeria, but correspondents say he is notorious for changing his mind. He has cancelled plans to formally announce his resignation to parliament on Thursday before stepping down on Monday, his spokesman told the AFP news agency.
