As Obasanjo Steals Oil Money: Warri war claims 100 lives A grim figure of casualties in the ethnic violence in Warri, Delta State, was yesterday given by the Red Cross Society, which said about 100 persons died and 1,000 were injured. The Red Cross also said that the feud, between militant youths of Ijaw and Itsekiri communities, has resulted in the displacement of several citizens. The Guardian has learnt that the military and police high command will soon begin a security operation to disarm the militants, while their leaders have announced a ceasefire. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Alexander Ogomudia on Thursday disclosed that a task force of military and Police personnel had been set up by the Federal Government to enforce peace in the troubled region. Police foil alleged kidnap attempt   Presidency sets up special force on...   AUDIO   VIDEO An attempt by persons suspected to be dupes to kidnap Dr. Emeka Ngige (SAN) has been reportedly foiled by the police in Anambra State. Emeka, who is the younger brother of Governor Chris Ngige who narrated his ordeal to The Guardian, said that on Wednesday three men who identified themselves as Sam, Herbert and Darlington Wanti, found their way into his Choice Hotel room in Awka, the state capital. (Guardian)   A special task force comprising military and police personnel has been set up by the Federal Government as part of efforts to restore order in crisis-torn Warri, Delta State. Also, a security operation to begin the disarmament of the warring parties is underway. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Alexander Ogomudia who disclosed the setting up of the task force in a letter to the Delta State Gov.
