The presidential candidate of the All Biafra Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), and his All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) counterpart, Chief Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu met last weekend in Enugu in what close associates said was a secret meeting to cement the bond of co-operation between the two parties. According to a source who was at the meeting attended by the former Senate President and Buharis running mate, Dr. Chuba Okadigbo, the two leaders also discussed the possibility of APGA and ANPP going into a merger for future elections. Odumegwu-Ojukwu and Buhari struck a working relationship after the last April 19 presidential election. They lost to the incumbent President Olusegun Obasanjo of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in an exercise both had since contested and described as a sham. Fridays parley that continued the next day was held at 4, Isi-Uzor Street, Enugu, residence of Odumegwu-Ojukwu. (Daily Independent) |
