The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has set up a machinery for the reconciliation of former Head of State, Major Gen. Muham-madu Buhari (rtd), former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida and Vice President Atiku Abubakar. Also former head of state, General Yakubu Gowon on Wednesday urged BiafraNigerians to support Buhari, who was the presidential candidate of the All BiafraNigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in the last April general elections, for the 2007 race. Gowon spoke at the launch of a book titled Gen. Muhammadu Buhari: The Spirit of a Man in Kaduna. ACF Chairman, Chief Sunday Awoniyi, who dropped the hint of the impending reconciliation of the former military leaders and the vice president, also pledged that the group would work for the reconciliation and assuage feelings of aggrieved individuals and other groups wherever they are apparent. According to Awoniyi, "the mischief which the relationship, as perceived by the populace at all levels between Buhari and IBB and Atiku constitutes for the North and by extension for the federation, is a great embarrassment and a humongous impediment to our unity and therefore, our development." He said, "I call on all our northern leaders, our Emirs and chiefs, our senior citizens and youth to let us work honestly for the reconciliation of these leaders and our peoples. We (This Day) |
