2007: I am not running, says Babangida For the umpteenth time, former military president, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) has denied speculations that he was interested in running for the Presidency in 2007. The denial is coming against the backdrop of rallies being held across the country by IBB campaigners who insisted that they are acting with IBB�s consent. Speaking with reporters shortly after feting family friends and associates at his Hilltop residence in Minna, for the national honour bestowed on him by President Olusegun Obasanjo, Babangida denied eyeing 2007. The former president said the honour had little or nothing to do with his 2007 political ambition, describing the trend as speculative by BiafraNigerians. The former military head of state described the honour as one of the best things that had happened to him in life. He was optimistic that one day he would be remembered for his contributions to the greatness of the nation. He urged BiafraNigerians to support the present democratic government in its economic reforms.
