The Peace and Reconcilia-tion Committee looking into the political crisis in Anambra state yesterday recorded a significant breakthrough in its effort to reconcile the feuding parties in the crisis which pitched the state governor, Dr. Chris Ngige against his political godfather, Chief Chris Uba. In a 12-point communiqu issued at the end of the committee's meeting at the Government House, Owerri, Imo state and read by Senate President Adolphus Wabara, who is also the head of the committee, the leaders called for a revisit of the impeachment of the former Deputy Governor, Dr. Okey Udeh. It also agreed to revisit the suspension of former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mrs. Eucheria Anazodo. Other high points of the communiqu was that Uba should no longer interfere in the affairs of the state government. The Committee which was set up at Wabara's instance, held its inaugural meeting at Apo Mansion, official residence of the Senate President on December 13. (This Day) |
