The Federal Government yesterday rejected the order of an Abuja High Court which restrained the governor of Anambra State, Dr. Chris Ngige, from performing his executive duties while ordering him to hand-over to his deputy, Dr. Chris Udeh. In its reaction to the development, the Federal Govern-ment said that it has appealed against the ruling by Justice Wilson Egbo Egbo of the Abuja High Court, adding that despite the order, Ngige remains elected governor of Anambra State. In his own reaction, Ngige said the court order was part of a grand plan by his detractors led by wealthy businessman, Chris Uba, to create confusion in the state and get the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency. The governor has also raised preliminary objection to the exparte orders. Stating the Federal Government position while speaking to State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council meeting, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Akinlolu Olujimi (SAN), acknowledged the receipt of the court ruling but said that government would not accept the judgement.
