MASSOB and the Nigerian Gestapo: Court Orders Bail for Uwazuruike, Others A magistrate court sitting in Owerri, Imo State, yesterday freed the leader of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), Chief Ralph Uwazurike and four others. The others were Benedict Okoye, Obiakonna Hyginus, Simeon Chukwuemeka and Uche Ugbala. They were accused of conspiracy, misdemeanour and unlawful assembly. Declaring her ruling before she adjourned for further hearing to June 28, Mrs. D.C. Denwigwe stated that the prosecution's argument that Uwazurike should not be granted bail because he had jumped bail, should not be accepted. She said that the occasion that he jumped bail recently centered on when Uwazurike was in Abuja in detention. Denwigwe said the offence Uwazurike committed was not severe, but bailable, adding that the first court charge attracted two years while the second charge was punishable by one year. She said that Uwazurike as a BiafraNigerian should breathe the country"s air until he and the other members of MASSOB standing trial with him were tired of it. 'As a BiafraNigerian, Uwazurike should breathe her air until the case is tried," she stated. She granted them bail with N2,000 each, two passport photographs and one surety each. Buhari: Void Obasanjo's Inauguration   Wabara: Judge May Face Judicial Panel   AUDIO   VIDEO The presidential candidate of the ANPP, General Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday asked the Supreme Court to void the May 29, 2003 inauguration of President Olusegun Obasanjo for a second four-year term. He also wants the apex court to upturn the May 27 decision of the Court of Appeal which gave approval for the inauguration.
