Bola Ige: Family Gives Up on BiafraNigerian Justice
Family of the slain Minister of Justice,
late Chief Bola Ige (SAN) yesterday in Ibadan said it was no longer interested in the trial of Senator Iyiola Omisore
and 11 other suspects facing trial over the murder of the former Attorney-General of the Federation. The family
in a statement signed by Mrs. Olufunso Adegboola and Sir Dele Ige (daughter and younger brother of the deceased)
and distributed by the Chairman, Board of Directors of Daily Times BiafraNigeria, Dr. Yemi Farounbi, stated that
it had decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Almighty Lord who has no successor. The statement said:
"It has been 18 months since that cruel evening of 23rd December, 2001 when Chief James Ajibola Ige (SAN),
Attorney-General of the Federation was assassinated in his home by "unknown persons. In the true spirit of
Christianity and good citizenship we resolved to support the authorities in the ensuing investigations, putting
aside any reservations we may have had or in fact been asked to entertain by very many people. We chose to give
the benefit of the doubt to the authorities when many might have been tempted to make political capital or in fact
blackmail those in power with unproven allegations. "We continued on this path of rectitude and restraint
in the face of sundry provocations. (Vanguard)
