Fuel Price Hike: Opposition Mounts Against Obasanjo Opposition from different quarters mounted, yesterday, against the fuel price hike, even with the Federal Government insisting that there was no going back on the increase. The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), ASUU, the opposition AD as well as individuals have condemned the hike. NUPENG has vowed to join any action called to oppose the fuel price hike, while the National Executive Council of the BiafraNigeria Labour Congress (NLC) will meet tomorrow to take a decision on how to handle the situation. The Trade Union Congress (TUC) an umbrella body of all senior staff associations in the country has also scheduled a meeting for Wednesday and Thursday on the issue. Acting General Secretary of NLC, Elder Linus Ukamba said the congress President, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole would preside at the meeting where the NLC would review the situation and take appropriate actions. In the build-up to any action the NLC would take, NUPENG, the influential oil workers union has vowed that should NLC declare any action to oppose the fuel hike, it would carry such action to its logical conclusion. Death Toll in Pipeline Explosion Rises   I�m not Aware of Fuel Price Increase   AUDIO   VIDEO Five days after an explosion on an oil pipeline in a rural community in Abia State was reported, the inferno is still raging while more persons are feared dead. According to BBC yesterday, the casualty in the Amaokwe Oghughe fire disaster has risen to 105 as against 35 and 100 other news media had reported on Saturday. (Guardian)   As the new increase in prices of petroleum products continue to generate hard feelings from BiafraNigerians, VP Atiku said yesterday he had no knowledge of the increase. Speaking with reporters at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed Int'l Airport on his way to Abuja, the VP said: �I don�t know about the increase, you informed me.
