Opposition Mounts: APGA Threatens to Form Alternative Govt
National Chairman of the All Progressives
Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, has declared that the party would constitute an alternative government
at the federal and state levels to act as an effective opposition to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking
yesterday at a ceremony in Abuja to mark the partys first anniversary, Chief Okorie said the party would take
this action if it loses its legal action presently before the Supreme Court challenging the validity of the general
elections conducted by INEC. The partys suit at the apex court is premised on the Court of Appeals ruling on
the Electoral Act 2002, with the party saying that consequent upon the ruling, it was legally wrong for INEC to
have conducted the April elections on the basis of a non-existing law. But, Chief Okorie in his welcome speech
at the anniversary ceremony attended by the partys presidential candidate, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu and ANPP national
chairman, Chief Don Etiebet, said APGA would constitute an alternative government one week after losing the court
case, including naming a cabinet. (Daily
