Peoples Party (ANPP) in the recent elections, General Muhammadu Buhari and his counterpart in the All Progressives
Grand Alliance (APGA), Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu, have said they will not recognise the present government after May
29, the official inauguration date. In a joint communiqué issued in Daura, Katsina State, yesterday, both
politicians, however, reiterated their commitment to challenge the result of the presidential polls in the appropriate
courts. They said even though they believed in the constitutional means of redress, they would not accept or recognise
a government that emerged from elections which were highly flawed. According to the communiqué: "Both
leaders reiterated their belief in pursuing legal and constitutional means of redress, but will not accept or recognise
a government taking office as a result of these flawed elections." The duo reiterated their total rejection
of the election results in the states where they say no elections were held and in the states where the abuse of
the electoral process was of such monumental scale as noted by local and international monitors and observers.
