A plot by a powerful caucus in the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) which is working together with the Presidency to support the candidacy of Senator Adolph Waba-ra, for
the Senate Presidency yesterday scuttled attempts by leaders of the party from the South-east zone to select a
consensus candidate for the position in Umuahia, Abia State capital. Also, the fresh intrigues manifesting in the
search for a candidate for the topmost legislative position amongst senators from the South-east zone may have
compelled one of the top contestants, Senator Arthur Nzeribe to withdraw from the race. (This Day)
