 Bola Ige: Yoruba Senator Omisore Gets Bail
An Ibadan High Court yesterday released on bail the former
deputy governor of Osun State, Otunba Iyiola Omisore who is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy
and murder of former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige (SAN). Giving
a 90 minute ruling on an application for bail pending trial, filed by Omiso-re's lawyer, the trial judge, Mr. Justice
John Ologoke Ige, declared that "... upon a thorough appraisal of the facts and peculiar circumstances of
this case, it is my humble view that the application should be granted in the proper and judicial exercise of the
court's discretion, and it is accordingly granted." In granting the application, however, Justice Ige imposed
a seven-term condition, a breach of any of which would make "the order granted... lapse automatically."
The terms and conditions as outlined by the judge include: N10 million with three sureties in the like sum.
