Arewa and Election 2007: IBB, Atiku Campaigners in War of Words Rival campaign groups canvassing the presidential ambition of Vice president Atiku Abubakar and former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida at the weekend engaged each other in war of words. The Babangida supporters accused the Atiku group of alleged breach of a ban placed on electioneering campaigns. Also, pro-Atiku campaigners, "the Coalition for Democracy Atiku for President 2007" are alleging that "some retired military cabals are afraid of the rising profile of the vice president, Atiku Abubakar." The IBB campaigners fired back by accusing the vice president of subtly flagging off his electioneering campaigns for 2007 presidential polls. The coordinator of Eagle Group/IBB Solidarity Move-ment, Captain Salihu Bala Shafii said the adoption of Atiku for 2007 and 2011 presidential elections in Bauchi recently amounts to "full commencement of campaigns by the Atiku campaigners in defiance of President Obas-anjo and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s.... Dim Ojukwu said Igbo haters cannot ruin Ndigbo as far as he is alive. Also speaking on the occasion, President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was represented by his Political Adviser, Prof. Jerry Gana, hailed Ojukwu... (Champion)   The United States Congress has authorised President George Bush to spend $2 million (N260 million) public funds to "capture" former Liberian President, Mr. Charles Taylor, currently living in exile in Calabar. The money, according to yesterday�s edition of London Observer, was attached to the bill approving President Bush�s plan to spend $87 billion to rebuild and secure...
