Hundreds of Kano citizens including PDP supporters who gathered at the emir's palace, Kano to attend an anti-Obasanjo rally were asked to go back quietly yesterday following intensive lobbying from the Presidency to stop the rally. The rally was organised by friends of former Nigerian Ports Authority managing director, Aminu Dabo, as part of activities lined up to show dissatisfaction with the manner in which the former managing director was removed from office by President Obasanjo. An active member of the group, who is also the Kano State PDP secretary, Alhaji Aminu Labaran Buba, told journalists that it was unfair for President Obasanjo to remove Alhaji Aminu Dabo unceremoniously as he did, and that since Kano gave the president 22 per cent of the votes cast in the state, the citizens of the state therefore deserved a better treatment. The PDP scribe said Aminu Dabo was a good Kano representative at NPA, and that the rumoured crises between the former NPA MD and another executive director was amicably settled by the minister and chairman of the board.
