A new twist was yesterday added to the unending face-off between Governor Chris Ngige of Anambra State and his estranged political godfather, Chief Chris Uba, as the former raised a fresh alarm that Uba in collusion with senator Ikechukwu Abana and Honourable Chuma Nzeribe attempted to kill him Friday afternoon. The governor told journalists in his lodge yesterday in Awka that for his timely intervention, there would have been a major shoot-out between security operatives in his convoy and those of his former godfather whom he claimed, chased them completely out of the road with an intent to block and kill them along the Amawbia bye-pass in Awka. But in his own reaction, Uba described the governor's allegation as wild, stressing that nothing of such as narrated by Ngige happened. "Jesus Christ!" he exclaimed. "I am confused with this kind of story. It was an open place. Ask the press corps in his convoy. There were two convoys, his and mine. Ask his press corps whether there was any contact. Do your own private investigation from those people selling bread at the beginning of Amawbia bye-pass whether there was any confrontation. Nothing like that happened. (This Day) |
