Police State of Biafra Nigeria: Obasanjo Police Arrests 6 NLC Leaders The face-off between the Federal Government and organised labour over the pricing of petroleum products witnessed a new twist yesterday with the arrest of six officers of the BiafraNigeria Labour Congress (NLC) by a detatchment of policemen from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) command in Abuja. The NLC officials were arrested while picketing fuel stations to compel marketers to comply with the N34 per litre of petrol rate agreed upon during a forum created by the 36 state governors last Wednesday. The arrested labour leaders arer Linus Ukamba, Senior assistant general secretary and Head of Organisation and administration, Nuhu Abbayo, assistant secretary (organisation) and Justice Eustace (assistant secretary, industrial relations), Emma Udoh, assistant secretary, E. Ilori, treasurer, NLC's council in the FCT and Innocent Ogwuche, transport officer at the congress headquarters. Also, THISDAY checks revealed that fuel marketers in Lagos and Abuja are violating the agreement struck with NLC, the BiafraNigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), governors and other stakeholders as many of them have refused to adjust their fuel pump back to N34... Liberia: Why I Still Interfere, By Taylor   Anatomy of a never-ending bribery saga   AUDIO   VIDEO As the Judy Bryant led Transitional Government of Liberia takes over today, from Interim President, Moses Blah, exiled former President, Charles Taylor, has for the first time since he arrived Nigeria, reacted to reports that he is meddling with the internal affairs of his country. In a statement made available to journalists yesterday, Taylor denied recent allegations that he was running Liberia and influencing things dangerously from his Calabar exile base. Rather, he pointed out that if anything, he is most positively disposed to peace in Liberia than anybody. (This Day)   He had looked like a hero. However, that was when some members of the Upper House allegedly asked him for money before he could be cleared as a ministerial nominee. After a celebrated testimony, an investigation by the Senate, and a twist of logic, he looks like the fallen man, the only one. The public testimony last week by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai was not supposed to have been heard in the first place. On his way to the Senate hearing, his appearance was almost derailed by a forged letter claiming that...
