The Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara, has said that the political undertone of the Mallam Nasir el-Rufai's allegation saga which rocked the Senate was aimed at removing him from office. He made this disclosure at an interactive session he held with newsmen in Accra, Ghana, at the close of the African Parliamentary Union Conference. Wabara who would not give any name or details of those he alleged were plotting his downfall, however, said he was aware from the day the allegation was made to the time the senate concluded the issue that the real agenda was to get him impeached as Senate President. "We know the political undertone and I know all the details of what transpired. I also know the aim and objectives of those behind it but the Lord would always fight for us and in that way, we would hold our peace. "It is not over because they would continue to try, try and try but so long as the Lord makes the truth to prevail, they would not succeed," he said. According to Wabara, "everybody has a right to be Senate President but I have prayed to Almighty God that I do not involve myself in anything that would make me leave that seat other than for political intrigues. I also don't want to leave that seat through some of the things that we have ....(This Day) |
