Police Chief Tasks Officers on Hardwork
From Chinedu Eze in Abakaliki
Ebonyi State Police Commi-ssioner, Dr. Udo Udo Ubam, has advised its rank and file to be more dedicated and embrace hard work as a tool to human development and economic empo-werment.
The commissioner gave the advice in Abakaliki when decorating the first police ASP (traffic warden) in the state Command recently.
According to the commis-sioner, who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Mohammed Gana, the recipient, ASP Sylvester Ezema, who bagged B.Sc. in Sociology/ Anthropology from of Enugu State University (ESUT), while in service was promoted from the rank of the Sergeant to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) because of his hard work and paper qualifications, adding that Ezema was promoted to encourage other officers to work hard.
Ubam said the action was in line with the philosophy and policy of the Inspector General of Police (IG), Tafa Balogun, to encourage young officers to achieve success and acquire more academic knowledge to enhance their performance in the profession.
Ubam challenged young officers to be more courageous and emulate ASP Ezemah, emphasising that officers should strive harder at making use of their little time for valuable ventures that would not only help in promoting their economic welfare but the society in general.
In another development 18 out-going National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) members of Batch B that served with the Ebonyi State Police Command were commended in a send-off party organised for them by the command at the Police Mess, Abakaliki.
Commenting during the ceremony, the Commissioner of Police described the corps members as hard working and dedicated people and advised them to be good ambassadors of the nation in any place they find themselves.
Highlight of the occasion was the exchange of gifts from the police and corp members and the decoration of Ezemah.
