Agali was released by German side Schalke 04 at the end of last season. The Super Eagles star was suspended by Schalke after he was said to have gone absent without leave when he should have been reporting to the club's medical team following muscular problems. "My last year there didn't go well at all, we had three coaches last season," Agali told the Nice club website. "My family is in France and I want to play here." Agali also said that he needs a little more time to get back to full fitness. "I have been following a personal fitness regime but I still need time to be fully ready, I hope to be fit to play against Marseille on August 21." The 26-year-old started his European club career in France with a brief stay at Marseille in 1996 before moving on to Toulon where he scored 15 goals in 38 matches.
