The state Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on rural development, Albert S. Atiwurcha, also announced that the various states of the Federation had just signed an agreement with the Federal Ministries of Finance and Agriculture and Rural Development which will enable them pay up their debts to the latter faster and more conveniently. Atiwurcha alleged that the products had expired and had become contaminated. According to him, " such a ridiculous act has such long lasting negative effect on the nation's economy and dream of surplus agricultural production and food scarcity". The chairman also disclosed that the Lagos state government is currently having N70 million worth of Urca for which it has no use, while it is indebted to the Federal Government which supplied the product.
