Udenwa administration elevates re-orientation
RE-ORIENTATION
has been described as the major leg of the tripod vision of the Achike Udenwa
administration in Imo State.
This was made public by the deputy
governor of Imo State, Chief Ebere Udeagu when he declared open a 3-day retreat
for local government Orientation Officers at Concord Hotel, Owerri.
He said that the success of the other two
cardinal points namely agriculture and industrialisation were dependent on the
re-orientation of the people.
Engr. Udeagu pointed out that government
was not paying lip service to the re-orientation of the people of the state
hence the operators of the scheme should justify the huge government spendings
on the orientation agency.
The deputy governor noted that the
appointment of orientation officers was not only to reduce unemployment but also
to ensure that the campaign was taken to the grassroots, adding that the retreat
was geared towards equipping the officers to successfully execute their
assignment.
He said that government would not accept
any form of laxity, and called on the LGA chairmen, staff and traditional rulers
to extend hands of friendship to the officers.
In his address, the chairman of the
occasion and executive assistant to the governor on labour matters, Chief D.D.
Iwuoha said that the orientation officers were being trained as foot-soldiers of
the tripod vision, adding that the retreat was therefore very vital for the
success of this administration.
He recalled that a peep through the window
of the history of ethical revolution in Nigeria showed that past administrations
in the country had come up with different brands of ethnical regeneration
pointing out that one of the many reasons for their failure was lack of
commitment and patriotism on the part of critical officers, apostles and
disciples who failed to lead by example. Chief Iwuoha expressed satisfaction
that the state government’s re-orientation was an improvement on the failure of
the past regimes.
Speaking also, the chairman of the Governing Board of the
Imo State Orientation Agency, Chief Innocent Oparadike, attributed the
remarkable achievements of the Agency to the very generous support and
encouragement which they have continued to enjoy from the Executive Governor,
Chief Achike Udenwa and solidarity from all functionaries of government in Imo
State.
