The governor said at a dinner organised in honour of legislators from the North Eastern geopolitical zone, under the aegis of North East States Legislators' Forum in Gombe at the weekend, that "The president must come from the North because it was a collective resolve in the collective interest of the northerners". He stated that the Northern Governors' Forum had a stand that the next president must come from the North. Goje expressed confidence that the arrangement would bring success to the whole country. According to the governor, "since the presidency has been with the south for eight years, "it should return to the North for at least eight years". He added that after that, the South could reclaim it or rotate it within the three geopolitical zones of the country.
