Secretary of Nasrul-
hali-Fathri (NASFAT), Dr-Lugman Adedeji has said that NASFAT would never support terrorism in anyway while denying having alliance with any terrorist group(s).
Dr. Adedeji, who is also the chairman of NASFAT’s proposed university project planning committee stated this in a press release made available to Daily Trust at the weekend.
He said that terrorism was against Islamic teachings and would not be given support from NASFAT. “NASFAT has no alliance with any terrorist group,” he stated.
He added that the proposed private university of which NASFAT is a proprietor was not being established to breed terrorists, neither is it to be sponsored by any terrorist group, whatsoever.
“This is necessary to allay the fears and suspicions of any Nigerian who may be in doubt as to the objectives of establishing a private Islamic university, especially in a country like Nigeria,” he said.
NASFAT has set into motion, plans to establish a private Islamic university in Osogbo, Osun State. The university, named FOUNTAIN UNIVERSITY, is put at a cost of N5 billion, and is to be funded by individual contributions by members of the organisation, returns on its investments, donations from individuals and corporate organisations.
Towards realising this objective, a planning committee consisting of 18 members and headed by Professor Nuru Adedipe, foundation vice-chancellor of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, has secured a piece of land of 250 hectare in Osogbo, Osun State, on which the university is to be built.
An 8-man delegation on Friday, July 30, filed application forms, academic brief, university law, certificate of registration and other relevant documents at the National Universities commission (NUC) in Abuja.
The project planning committee, which has held several intellectual summits and working sessions have had an 18-seater Toyota Ace bus donated to it by the Osogbo community for the running of the university.
Dr. Adedeji has appealed to the generality of Muslims all over the world to contribute generously to the project, saying that whoever donates a generous loan for the sake of Allah will gain abundant rewards both in this world and the hereafter.
He said that donations could be sent to any NASFAT branch or to the secretariat of Foundation University located at No. 6 | |
