Adamawa Varsity Gets New Council

Governor Boni Haruna of Adamawa has inaugurated the reconstituted Council of the Adamawa State University Mubi, pointing out that the dissolution of the old Council was not intended to cause a break in its terms of appointment.
Haruna said government decided to reconstitute the Council within 48 hours of dissolution because of the importance it attach to its assignment at the formative stage of the University said that the dissolution was done in error.
The Governor who congratulated the Board members, explained that government has re-established its confidence in them and the council to move the University to greater heights.
He charged members of the Council to put in their best to give the state a sustainable and model University, noting that a College of Medicine would be established in the University, for which government he said has already initiated discussion for the expansion of facility around the Mubi General Hospital to be developed for prospective students of the College.
The governor however, cautioned members of the Council to take appropriate measures against the growing tendency of cliques in the University with a view to ensuring fairness in the activities of the institution.
He warned that, "government will not hesitate to take a look at the entire structure of the University if it appears to be derailing from the objective for which it established."
Responding on behalf of the members, the Chairman of the Council, Prof. Samuel Aleideno, expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity given to them and pledge that they would do their best to provide for Adamawa an institution of high quality, in tune with the needs of the state.
Other members of the Council are the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Abdul-rahaman Gaji, Prof. J.K.Pwaga, Deputy-Vice Chanbcellor Alhaji Lawan Ribadu and Alhaji Abdulkarim Albashir.
Also to serve in the Council are Dr. Larba Alfa and representatives of the ministries of Education and Justice, while Mrs. Falu Mustapha is the Secretary.
