Adegbite Urges FG to Care for Youth From Toba Suleiman in Abeokuta Secretary-General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) Dr Lateef Adegbite yesterday called on Federal Government to give attention to the needs of Nigeria youths, as a way of curtailing their restiveness. Delivering an address at the rally Organised by the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN) to mark occasion of its 50th anniversary held at MKO Abiola Stadium Abeokuta, Adegbite said the standard of education given to them (youths) should be improved. "They should also be economically empowered through better vocational training and gainful employment for all, including those of them who may be physically disadvantaged." " In this regard, I commend Ogun State Government for its well-thought out youth employment policy, as spelt out in Ogun State Employment Generation Programme (OGEGEP), which other states should emulate',he said. According to him, with the current involvement of youth in most crimes, there was the need for the Federal Government to find means of engaging them. While calling on MSS family to spare some time for the nation, Adegbite said they should be part of the regeneration move so as to arrest the moral decadence that has gripped the country. He said it would also be necessary for the society to engage in the political education of its members, with a view to guiding them to exercise voting power objectively. "In this way, the MSS would influence in the production of a better crop of competent, capable and corrupt-free political leaders who are also dedicated to true national unity", he said. He charged the society to ensure that its members understand Islam better, practice it correctly and devotedly.
