Crisis Brews in Kwara PDP over Party Slot By Tokunbo Adedoja A fresh crisis is already brewing in the Kwara State chapter of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the decision of its national headquarters on the national deputy publicity secretary slot zoned to Kwara and reversion of the state executive committee to the pre-2002 arrangement. The position, zoned to the state, based on existing political arrangement was zoned to Irepodun Local Government area of Kwara South Senatorial district. In the spirit of the zoning arrangement, two former holders of the office, Mr. Gbenga Olawepo and Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin are from Irepodun Local Government area. When the position became vacant last year following the appointment of Adedoyin as a member of the Governor Bokola Saraki's cabinet, the state chapter nominated one Barr. Funsho Sa'ad from Kwara Central Senatorial district as replacement. His nomination was however not approved by the party's Central Working Committee (CWC) on the ground that it violated the existing zoning arrangement, which gives the slot to Irepodun in Kwara South Senatorial district. As a way of finding solution, a stakeholders meeting was held and attended by a national delegation led by the party's Deputy National Chairman (South), Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, while a decision was reached to withdraw Sa'ad's nomination and replace him with a nominee from Kwara South based on the zoning arrangement.
