African Ministers Want ICT Implementation From Juliana Taiwo in Abuja African Ministers of Education have recommended that polices integrating information and communication technologies (ICTs) in education be implemented in countries of the continent within the next five years. The ministers reached the understanding in Abuja at the just concluded Ministerial Conference for West Africa on the Integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) under the auspices of the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA). In a communiqu� read by the Minister of Education, Professor Fabian Osuji, the ministers from over 15 African countries reaffirmed their commitment to the goals of education for all to meet learning needs in their countries. They further reaffirmed the New Partnership for Africa Development (NEPAD)'s goal for African ownership, leadership and people-centred development regarding better quality education and access to ICT. "We will ensure that in our national action plans due attention is given to the enhancement of equal access to quality education for all through the Open Distance Learning (ODL) and the integration of ICT in our educational systems," the ministers pledged.
