'Cotecna Not Registered' By Deji Akinbode The Federal Government may no longer accommodate Cotecna Inspection Limited, in the new destination inspection plan as fresh revelations indicate that the company was not a corporate entity at the time it applied and was awarded the $70 million scanning machine contract. Jersey Financial Services Commission, which oversees corporate affairs activities in the Channels Island (Carribbean), where Cotecna claims incorporation said at the weekend that the purported registration is not true. Investigation revealed that Cotecna was registered on April 12, 1995, and was legally dissolved the same day. The statement from the chambers that applied for Cotecna's dissolution refers thus, "I acknowledge receipt of a special resolution passed 27~ March 1995, that the company named above (Cotecna Inspection Ltd) be wound up summarily and an accompanying statement of solvency, stating that the company has no assets and no liabilities. The document was registered on April 12, 1995 and was dissolved on that same date." The statement was signed by the Assistant Registrar of Companies at the Commission. The Commission also wrote, "In reply to your letter dated November 11 2003, I can confirm that Cotecna Inspection Limited was dissolved on April 12 1995; therefore the company can no longer be trading." The statement was signed by Gillian Barr, a Registrar of the Comm-ission while replying to a due diligence request from some American companies.
