ICPC Boss, Clerics for NASFAT Seminar Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commi-ssion, Justice Mustapha Akanbi (rtd), Secretary-General of the Catholic Secretariat, for George Ehusani, and Chief Imam of the Ansaru Deen Society of Nigeria, Imam Abdul Rahman Ahmad will on Thursday speak at a special seminar on corruption organised by , the Nasrul-lahi-il-Fatih Society of Nigeria (NASFAT). A statement from the Publicity Secretary of the society, Alhaji Sami Oki also said President Olusegun Obasanjo would be the special guest of honour at the seminar which has as its theme "Corruption: Taming a National Malaise-What Options? What Strategies". Listed as the sub-theme of the seminar which is expected to be chaired by a former head of state, Gen. Yakubu Gowon, is Anti-corruption drive: Religious organisation as intervention organ. To be held at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Kofo Abayomi, Victoria Island Lagos, the programme will be moderated by chairman, Editorial Board, The Guardian, Dr.Reuben Abati. Guests would be hosted by Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Explaining the rationale behind the seminar, the statement said the efforts was in line with the determination of the society to contribute its quota to the eradication of corruption. "We as an organisation, recognise the efforts of the government. And we believe that every corrupt person either claims to be a Muslim or Christian. We all know to what extent corruption has set this country back in the drive towards development." A corrupt nation is certainly moving its wheel away from development. This is why we believe efforts such as this will go a long way in assisting the government in realising a corruption-free country," the statement said.
