Gombe Suspends Fertiliser Sales Gombe From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe Gombe State government has suspended further sales of fertiliser in the state due to logistic problems. Over 12,000 tonnes of assorted fertiliser out of 34,000 tonnes procured had already been distributed in all the 11 local government areas. Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alhaji Dahiru Biri, in a statement at the weekend, said the suspension was to enable the committee on fertiliser allocation and distribution assess progress so far made. According to Biri, "the temporary suspension is also meant to enable the committee deal with complaints and suggestions, if any, to effect necessary adjustment." The Commissioner gave an assurance that more fertiliser would be supplied as soon as the current exercise is completed. He appealed to people to cooperate with goverment adding that new date of resumption of sales and distribution would be announced in due course.
