Commissioner Donates N2.2m to Social Devt Fund Lagos By Shaka Momodu Lagos State Commissioner for Youth' Sports and Social Development' Mr. Opeyemi Bamidele, has donated N2,200,000, towards the Lagos State Social Development Trust Fund, as his personal contribution. The donation was made as part of activities marking Bamidele's 41st birthday. The money which was presented to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development, Mrs. Adedamola Akran in two Eko International Bank cheque numbers: and is to be used specifically to resuscitate the Skill Acquisition and Vocational Training Centres of the State Owned Social Welfare Institutions to enable residents acquire vocational skills. The Trust Fund according to Bamidele, has become necessary as a result of the enormous challenge and task of providing social services, occasioned by the huge influx of people from neighbouring states and countries, which has overstretched facilities. Bamidele therefore expressed hope that this gesture will encourage other well meaning individuals and corporate Organisations to equally contribute meaningfully to this Fund. He thanked, Mrs. Adedamola Akran, and members of staff for supporting the administration of Governor Bola Tinubu and reiterated his resolve to commit his energy and God given talents to work hard to better the lots of Lagosians. It will be recalled that during his 40th birthday in July year, Bamidele had pledged to donate N1,000,000.00 (One million Naira) from the proceed of his book launch i.e. ''Errands For Progress" and N100,000.00 (One hundred Thousand Naira) from his monthly salary for one year.
