Apathy Greets LG Polls in Jigawa From Bala Nasir in Dutse As the march towards the conduct of local government elections in Jigawa State gathers momentum, the State Independent Electoral Commission (JISIEC), has lamented that some candidates who are to contest in the forthcoming election are yet to pick up their nomination forms from the state electoral body. chairman of the JISIEC, Alhaji Allili Galadima Madaka made this known, when indigenes of Babuwa local government in the state, who petitioned him agianst a councillorship candidate imposed on them in their area, paid him a courtesy visit. Madaka said, despite the fact that nine parties were contesting in the election, some of their candidates were yet to pick the nomination forms. He expressed disgust with the atitude of the peoples Demoratic Party (PDP) over the nomination form issue. He said, the party after being given grace period to pick up the form for its candidates, the party was still adamant in picking up the form. According to him, though his commission has closed the date for submission of the nomination forms, the commission, he said had to extend the time to allow the party submit names of its candidates. "We have been postponing the deadline up to five times in order to accommodate PDP, but up till this time, no names have been forwarded for the forms." "Though the party has consistently indicated that it will participate in the forthcoming election, yet there is no positive reponse from it to that direction," Madaika added. He, therefore, said "we have no time whether it has picked the nomination form or not."
