“Ever before I came into the ministry, a lot has been done, all we are doing is to mainstream what is not western medicine because we have found that it works in a number of countries, China is a typical example where herbal medicine has worked very well. Our research institutes, in particular, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Development is very engaged in this process of mainstreaming traditional medicine by looking at it” She added.
The minister noted that “those are the only things we can indeed do, we can’t make a decree and say none of you can practise, all we can do is to find a way to regulate, mainstream and develop guidelines for the operation of the practitioners.
Meanwhile, Princess Adedoyin at the meeting with her supporters assured that eight aggrieved council chairmanship aspirants who lost out in the last election over KWSIEC disqualification that they would soon regain their seats, sequel to the latest directive of the national executives of the PDP.
She said “I stood firm in front of Atiku that we won’t accept KWSIEC decision. So the position agreed by the party in December 2002 primaries would now be implemented according to the postion of the national working committee of the party.
If it won’t be allowed, then we will start all over again, because it was this same primaries ignored by the KWSIEC that was used for the election of the President, the governors, the Senate members, and members of House of Representatives”
She explained that it was based on this that the national leadership of PDP dragged KWSIEC to court and not her very self contrary to speculations, adding that she was not in disagreement over this matter.
She said “Kwara south owns the PDP in this state, we are in the majority. The issues at stake are that of truth and what we believe in. If other states did not fight for their rights, then that is their problem, though it may tarry but we shall win because that is position of the party.
And let me assure you that all the known members of this party are in one accord over this matter”.Government determined to curb spread of polio —MINISTER
