FOS Acquires New Office Complex for N1bn From Cletus Akwaya in Abuja Federal Office of Statistics (TOS) has acquired a new structure at the cost of N1 billion for use as its new office complex. Located in the central business district in Abuja, opposite the Nigeria National Petroleum (NNPC) Towers, the four-storey edifice was purchased from major oil marketer, Oando Plc, which had built the office in the 1990s to serve as its corporate office in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Since its completion however, the building has not been put to use until the acquisition by Federal Government. As part of its support for the development of statistics in the country, the European Union has offered Federal Government a grant of 4 million pound (about N600 million) a substantial part of which would go into furnishing, provision of computers and other facilities needed in the complex. At a brief ceremony yesterday, Economic Adviser to President and Chief Executive, National Planning Commission (NPC), Professor Ode Ojowu, handed over the property to EU representative for renovation, furnishing and fitting with information technology gadgets.
