Akwa Ibom Agog for Obasanjo From Efem Nkanga in Uyo Akwa Ibom State is agog as it prepares to host President Olusegun Obasanjo, who begins a three day offficial visit to the state on Friday, his third since 1999. The state Commissioner for Information, Mr Patrick Ekpotu, told newsmen that on arrival in Uyo, the president will commission various state government projects including the water project at Idu in Uruan Local Government Area, Abak Road, Science Centre, Eket and Okopedi Urua Ita road in Okobo Local Government Area. He is also expected to inspect various projects currently embarked upon by the Victor Attah administration like the Le meridien Ibom Hotel and Government Resort, Cassava Farm at Use-offot, in Uyo Local Government area, Ibom Plaza, Nkemba Trough, Erosion site at Itak and the livestock market at Abattoir. Others are the ultra modern motor park at Itam, Abak-Ete road, Essene-Edemya Road, Rice farm at Ikot Ebidang, proposed site for airport at Okobo and the Shelter Afrique Housing Estate. The President's visit, according to Ekpotu, is coming on the heels of the thank you visit embarked upon by traditional rulers and eminent citizens of the state immediately after the amicable political settlement of the onshore-offshore dichotomy imbroglio. President Obasanjo had during that thank you visit, promised to visit the state again. The president on arrival through the Calabar International Airport will be received at Akon Itam, the boundary of Uyo, after which he will meet with traditional rulers,before inspecting and commissioning some projects.
