I've Not Reconciled with IBB, Says Ogboru By Ndubuisi Ugah Alliance for Democracy (AD) gubernatorial candidate during the last general elections in Delta State, Chief Great Ogboru, has denied that he ever held any reconciliatory meeting with former President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd). His Special Assistant, Mr. Efe Duku, said, in a press statement, "it is true that Chief Ogboru got a late call on Saturday evening from a supposed member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) from Warri, Delta State, who spoke in Urhobo language asking for the direction the party would take in 2007." According to Duku, "as the leader and the governorship candidate of the party, Chief Ogboru felt moved that a member could be interested in what is happening in the party. It was in this lighter mood that he responded that the issue of 2007 has not come up because the dispute over the 2003 elections is yet to be settled. And the conversation ended." "We were, however, suprised to read the story that he did not confirm nor deny the alleged reconciliatory meeting with General Babangida. We want to state that no journalist ever spoke with Ogboru on any issue or reconciliatory meeting with General Babangida for that matter. The person who spoke to him only identified himself as a member of AD from Delta State. He never introduced himself as a journalist," the statement said. It however added that as far as Ogboru was concerned "history has narrowed the ideological differences between him and the General Babangida years against the backdrop of the current level-playing ground for all Nigerians in our national plitics.
