Goje, Not a Dictator - Aide From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe Chief of Staff to Governor Danjuma Goje, Alhaji Lamido Chikere, has lent his support to the actions of the State Governor, Alhaji Danjuma Goje, replying critics that he is not a dictator. Chikere, in an interview with newsmen after being turbanned by the Emir of Akko, Alhaji Umaru Atiku, advised the people of the state not to compare Goje's government to that of his predecessor, Alhaji Abubakar Hashidu. He said the governor would not succumb to blackmail brought about by his refusal to agree to attempts to share the state resources. Chikere said "people are saying there is development, but there is no money. Of course, if there is development, there will be no money. Our government is not like that of Hashidu where there was money but no development, he took away the money." He said it was unfortunate that some people, for the reasons known to them, described the governor as too autocratic, but that what is important is the rapid transformation of the state within a short period. "I am part of the government and I am satisfied with the governor's performance so far. Criticism is normal. People can say he is highhanded, autocratic and so on. The most important thing is, is the governor performing?" He appealed to the people to be patient with the administration and cooperate, so that the state would be taken to greater heights within four years.
