Adedoyin Declares War on Polio Kwara From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin Minister of State for Health, Princess Funke Adedoyin, has declared the combat readiness of the Federal Government to curb the spread of polio. To that effect, she said government has mapped out strategies aimed at ensuring that polio would never again be allowed to spread in the country. Adedoyin made the declaration in Kwara State, shortly after addressing a rally of Kwara South Senatorial district of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ajase-Ipo, Kwara State. The minister, who spoke against the backdrop of outbreak of the disease in the country, assured that appropriate medical steps have been taken to ensure that the disease does not spread. "Periodically, we get outbreak of polio in the neighbouring African countries. Let me state that President Olusegun Obasanjo's agenda is total eradication of polio and we are not relenting. "We are coming out very strongly with programmes that would have active involvement of the states and local government because there are some states and even councils that would not cooperate with the policy, so we are carrying them along from the onset". She said all these among others, are the actions we have embarked upon, so that we don't have a fall out of polio outbreak from these other African countries.
