Communities Charged to Protect Govt Projects Akwa Ibom From Efem Nkanga in Uyo Chairman of Ukanafun Local Government area of Akwa Ibom State, Obong Okon Uwah, has called on village heads and stakeholders to ensure protection of government projects in their areas for the benefit of the people. Uwah gave this charge in his office at the inauguration of the council's rural development committee, adding that protection of such projects will apart from benefitting communities, ensure provision of more projects. Uwah also pleged to ensure that 12 mini water projects are inaugurated and completed within 100 days of his administration. He said his adminstration would rehabilitate all malfunctioned boreholes in the council, in addition to ensuring completion of all abandoned water projects, in the quest to move the area forward and ensure its development. Uwah said plans have reached an advanced stages to complete and commission the abandoned electrification project at Ikot Unah before the end of September, adding that the abandoned post office would also be completed and commisioned after useful contacts with relevant authorities have been made. He urged the newly sworn - in members of the committee to generate lofty ideas that will help the spiritual, structural and moral repositioning of the community.
