Re-absorb Sacked Judges, Assembly Orders Commission
From Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi

Bauchi State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the state's Judicial Service Commission (JSC) to re-absorb some retired judges in the state within two weeks or face the wrath of the Assembly.

The call followed a report submitted by the House Committee on Public Petition to re-appeal for review of compulsory retirement of Alhaji Hussaini Nuhu and nine others by the JSC.

Chairman of the committee, Hon. Abdullahi Yaya prayed the House to consider the plight of the affected persons who were retired prematuredly.

He said the committee has made several consultations with a view to ascertain the true position of the matter in respect of the compulsory retirement of the judges.

THISDAY gathered that the report, which drew heated debates unanimously resolved and mandated the JSC to reabsorb the retired judges and their salaries be paid from where it was stopped.

The Deputy Speaker, Hon. Gambo asked the clerk of the House to write to the JSC to ensure that the affected persons were duly re-absorbed into the main service within two weeks.

Also, a member of the House representing Toro/Jama'a constituency, Hon. Isa Babayo Tilde has urged the state government to take stringent action that would help in curbing the activities of hired assassins in the state.

Speaking on the floor of the House, Tilde described as alarming the rate of armed robbery attacks in his constituency, especially with the killing of a housewife at her residence at Tilden Fulani village in Toro local government area of the state.

He also urged the state police command to beef up security in order to arrest the situation, adding that residents should volunteer to give useful information to the police on the hideouts of suspected criminals.
