Monarch Urges Lawmakers to Facilitate Grassroot Devt
From Abel Orih in Yola
Members of the Adamawa State House of Assembly have been charged to ensure that their respective constituencies are not left out in the ongoing developmental policies of Governor Boni Haruna-led administration.
The Hama Bachama, Homun Asaph Zadok, gave the charge when members of the state Assembly led by the Speaker, Alhaji Bashir Toungo, paid him a courtesy visit.
He expressed gratitude to the legislators for the visit, adding that the gesture demonstrates the high regards they have for Bachama chiefdom.
King Zadok, who recently took over the reign of the Bachama chiefdom, prayed that the cordial relationship existing between his palace and the state Assembly would continue to wax stronger as God would permit.
According to him, "I commend you Honourable members of the state assembly for maintaining peace in the state especially in your manner of approach towards sensitive issues."
Speaking earlier, the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Bashir Shehu Toungo, said they were at the palace to congratulate the King over his selection as Hama Bachama by the kingmakers.
He pointed out that King Zadok has an important role to play in ensuring peace and development not only in Bachama land but also the entire state.
The Speaker described the new Hama Bachama as an embodiment of peace and hard-work who has strived all in his life to better the lots of others, pointing out that the King is worthy of emulation and prayed for God guidance over him and his chiefdom.
Meanwhile, King Zadok has denied reports that the dethroned Hama Bachama, Freddy Sediti Bongo will return to the throne following a directive to the state government to carry out such order within 30 days.
He appealed to the entire people of the state and Bachama kingdom particularly, to ignore the baseless rumour, which he described as another positive way of igniting hatred and rancour within the area.
